Wastayanipi Lake
It might be hard to pronounce, but that won't matter when you discover the trophy northern pike which Wastayanipi is famous for!
Wastayanipi is another link on the chain of lakes which form the Pipestone River system. Although we offer you over 15
miles of water to fish and explore, including the Pipestone River, we limit accommodations to groups 4-6. This means the fishing
pressure remains at a minimum each year ensuring a consistent quality in both walleye and northern pike fishing all season long.
Our camp is located at the south end of Wastayanipi adjacent to the rivers inlet. Some of the fastest walleye and northern pike
fishing will be found here at the mouth of the river, just a short boat ride from the camp. Travel a little further up the river
and you will encounter a picturesque waterfall which not only presents great photo opportunities, but will provide you with many hours
catching and releasing walleyes and northerns and even catching the occasional sturgeon! Catching fish is always exciting, but exploring
new waters and discovering new fishing hot spots is what makes a remote trip so worthwhile! Wastayanipi Lake provides endless opportunities
to explore the countless bays and feeder streams. Pack a shore lunch and slowly make your way up the north end of the lake. You'll probably
be kept busy fishing the bays and streams along the way, so don't be surprised if it takes you several hours to reach the northern outlet of
Wastayanipi. Cook a shore lunch of freshly caught walleye over an open fire at the north end rapids. It's an ideal spot for lunch and to relax
on shore. That is, if your idea of relaxing is walking the shoreline and casting into the many pools below the rapids - a great way to spend a
few hours in the afternoon working off too much fish for lunch!
