South Pipestone
Northern Ontario is famous for its clear cold lakes and rivers. If you are familiar with this
region, you have probably heard of the more famous rivers such as the Albany, the Severn and the Winisk.
All these famous rivers have one thing in common, they are fed by lesser known, secondary river systems which
eventually combine to form one powerful river. The Pipestone is one of these secondary river systems. Several years
ago, we discovered a calm 5 mile section of this river that produced exceptional walleye and northern pike fishing. It is
perhaps one of the most unique stretches of the Pipestone River which is actually the northern fork of the Pipestone which,
as the map shows, splits into two sections ten miles south of the camp. Keep in mind that although the Pipestone is a fast
moving river, this north fork of the Pipestone is actually similar to a narrow lake and presents no challenge to
even the most novice boat and motor operators. The camp is designed for a group of 4-8 and is one of our more modern camps
featuring a screened-in porch to ensure relaxing bug-free evenings. As always, you never have to travel far from camp to
experience the action on walleye and northern pike which northern Ontario is famous for. If you are like most fishermen, you
will want to explore new waters and the South Pipestone provides unlimited opportunities to explore new and interesting water.
If your group wants to experience fast white water fishing, there are opportunities for this both up and down stream from the camp.
You will only need to travel 1/2 mile to reach the fast water to the north or about 5 miles to the south end rapids, but once here, you can enjoy
hours of fishing the numerous pools below the rapids primarily for 2-3 lb walleyes.
